Nine players return to play the last dar of the 2015 Punta Cana Poker Classic Main Event but only one would be crowned as champion. Venezuela’s Luis Yepez , who started Day 4 second in chips, showed a lot of patience and defeated Jaime Farriol for a $171,000 prize.
Amos Ben (9° – $16,500) was the first player eliminated from the tournament when his A J couldn’t win the race against Farriol’s pocket K K. He was followed by Mexican player Antonio Rodriguez (8° – $19,800) after losing a huge part of his stack.
A few hands later Jose Luis Cases was eliminated (7° – $23,100) when his pocket K K couldn’t win the race against Tavarez A Q. The next elimination was Pablo Bravo (6° – $24,750) who crashed against Yepez pocket kings.
After two levels without any action, Jose Tavarez (5° – $33,000) announced his all.in called by Ari Engel (4° – $41,250) and Yepez who won the hand and became a serious contender for the title. With only three players left, contenders asked for a break and negotiated a deal.

Gabriel Diaz (3° – $75,240) left the final table third after calling Farriol’s bet with less than two big blinds. After Diaz’s elimination, things escalated pretty quickly and Jaime Farriol (2° – $124,985) announced his all-in with A 10 and Luis Yepez (1° – $185,615) called with pockets eights. The board didn’t help the Chilean player and Yepez becomes the lates Punta Cana Poker Classic champion.
It’s been a blast here at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. The players enjoyed a great week at this Caribbean paradise and are looking forward for the 2016 Punta Cana Poker Classic to be held in october.
