An instant call. That’s what Gerardo Cardona’s  girlfriend did when the 29 year old resident of Montevideo proposed in the middle of ta room at the Enjoy Conrad Casino & Resort in Punta del Este.

Cardona had just won Event #12 PLO 8 HI/Lo Freeze-out and, holding his spade and 1,682 dollars in his pocket, he was taking the customary pictures for the champion. He had already given a speech, and had dedicated the triumph….but suddenly, he surprised evereyone: “Wait, I want one more picture”, he said and called his girlfriend over….

Surprise! When the blonde walked over, Gerardo got down on one knee and, before her disbelieving eyes («What are you doing?», she was heard asking, surprised and with tears in her eyes) and he finally asked, «Will you marry me?”.

All she could do, was kiss him, once, twice three times and thank him with a smile on her face that stretched form side to side. Because, apparently, the fairy tale had its happy ending.
