Ron Morandini lead the pack at the Punta Cana Poker Classic

Day 1B of the 2016 Punta Cana Poker Classic left us with Ron Morandini Flag of Estados Unidos as chip leader with a 244,500 stack. The second day of action registered 208 entries but at the end of ten levels only 83 would advance to Day 2 at the Meliá Caribe Tropical in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

Big names such as Doug Polk Flag of Estados Unidos (52,500), Faraz Jaka Flag of Estados Unidos (47,800), Jose Ignacio Barbero Flag of Argentina (49,300), Alberto Meran Flag of República Dominicana (142,200), Joshua Beckley Flag of Estados Unidos (91,700) and Humberto Brenes Flag of Costa Rica (39,600) made it through and will return in a few hours

On the other hand, players like Georgios Sotiropoulos Flag of Grecia, Camilo Zuluaga Flag of Colombia, Savannah Farmer Flag of Estados Unidos and Luis Perez Flag of Venezuela had a rough start and couldn’t advance. Players that didn’t made it through will have the chance to play some of the side events the festival has to offer.

A grand total of 176 players will return for Day 2 of the PCPC Main Event. Third day of action will kick-off at 02:00 Flag of República Dominicana with ten levels of play before we meet the survivors that will return for Day 3.

We were walking by when Marcelo Caceres Flag of Argentina came to us and told us about his last hand with Faraz Jaka Flag of Estados Unidos. Faraz raised to 1,700 called by Marcelo  and the big blind. The flop came 4 2 2 and Faraz fired 2,300 points called by Marcelo.

Turn was a K and Faraz fired 4,800 called by Marcelo. River was a 9 and Faraz bet 7,900 called by Marcelo with A Q against Jaka’s A 5.

Turn was a- 8h- checked by both players but when the K showed up in the river, Chris announced his all-in for 13,700 chips. The player under the gun thought about it for almost five minutes before folding.
