Day 1B of the 2017 Punta Cana Poker Classic is over leaving Corey Kennel as the leader with 232,000 chips. He will return on top of the counts with a big advantage over Lucas Smith who yesterday finished with a 191,000 stack.
Players like Hector Gimenez, Chris “Big Huni” Hunichen, Carlos Curi, Alberto Fonseca, Luis Cabrera, Paul Tacsan and Martin Scasso were among the players eliminated from the tournament.
Julio Belluscio (186,900), Jose Stawski (135,000), Melvin Matos (117,600), Pedro Kaenel (79,400), Alberto Meran (76,400), Damian Salas (65,000), Gabriel Zakalik (43,700) and Francis Cruz (28,400) will return tomorrow for Day 2.
The 2017 Punta Cana Poker Classic Main Event registered 382 entries but only 151 will come back at 14:00 to fight for a seat into Day 3. The remaining player will battle for ten levels before bagging and tagging and you may follow all of the action live at Americas Cardroom.

Francois Lincourt raised to 2,400 from under the gun and Gabriel Zakalik
3-bet to 6,000 chips. The action came back to Francois who folded after thinking about it for a while.
The last two hand played by Troy Quenneville finished the same: He announced his all-in and nobody called.
First he shoved his last 10,000 chips and on the very next hand he shoved his last 13,000 chips. Now he has a 15,000 stack.

Chris Hunichen has been eliminated from the 2017 Punta Cana Poker Classic Main Event. The American player has been living in Costa Rica for the past few years. Maybe we will have the chance to watch him again at the High Roller but for now, he is out.

The 3 turn was good for a 1,600 bet from Salas who won the pot.

Raul Castillo raised to 2,600 from the BTN and the player on the big blind called. The flop showed a K 4 5 and both players checked. The turn was a 4 and the BB check-called a 4,000 bet from Raul.
The river was a 6 and the BB bet 5,000 that Raul called to muck his hand after his rival showed pocket 6 6.

Martin Scasso told us that he announced his all-in with pocket 10 10 and his rival called with K J. The board was an A 10 8 3 J to eliminate the Argentinian.
Day 1B of the Punta Cana Poker Classic Main Event has officially closed its registration with 149 entries. That means that the 2017 Punta Cana Poker Classic had a grand total of 382 entries.
Chris Hunichen raised to 1,300 from early position and Manelic Minaya
called from the big blind. The flop showed a 9 3 4 and Minaya check-called a 1,700 bet from Big Huni.
The turn was a 3 and Minaya again check-called a 3,800 bet from Hunichen. The river showed an A and both players checked.
Manelic showed pocket 6 6 and Hunichen won the pot with his 9 8.
Alberto Fonseca and his son, Alberto Fonseca Jr
